My name is Patricia Coryell, and I live at the top of Talbert Avenue, which is just about three houses away from Runkle
Canyon.
I am one of the so-called “Runkle Rangers,” which is really just a group of citizens - gainfully employed, publicly engaged, tax
paying, local business supporting citizens – who share a common concern over the proximity of the planned development to
Boeing Rocketdyne’s Santa Susana Field Lab.
Our concerns are real – they are not a smoke screen for NIMBYism or an excuse for rabble rousing. We’re not anti-
development or pro-hysteria. We are not here because we don’t have anything better to do with our time, or because we
crave your attention.
We are here because we want definitive information concerning the nature and extent of the chemical and radiological
contamination caused by Boeing Rocketdyne during the fifty-plus years they were allowed to operate without any meaningful
oversight. We want them to accept responsibility and be held accountable for the environmental remediation of the site, as
well as the clean up of contamination that has migrated to surrounding areas, including Runkle Canyon.
We look to our elected representatives to address our concerns by requiring a comprehensive chemical and radiological
characterization of Runkle Canyon before allowing that project to go forward. Thank you.
